Binance Futures listed four new USDⓈ-margined TradFi perpetual contracts on 6 October 2026, opening at 09:00, 09:05, 09:10 and 09:15 UTC respectively: USDEXUSDT, VKTXUSDT, MCDUSDT and AKAMUSDT.
All four share the same parameters: quoted and settled in USDT, minimum notional 5 USDT, maximum leverage 20x, funding settled every eight hours with a cap and floor of ±2.00% and an interest-rate component of 0%, Multi-Assets Mode supported, trading hours 24/7. The announcement also states the four are exempt from the 8.1 Adjustment of Funding Interval rule — when a previous settlement hits the cap or floor, their interval will not tighten from eight hours to one.
First, the ticker that invites a mistake
The announcement is explicit about what USDEXUSDT tracks: StablecoinX Inc. Class A Common Stock, Nasdaq ticker USDE.
It is a stock, not a stablecoin. Ethena’s synthetic dollar is also called USDe. On a trading screen the two differ by one letter’s capitalisation, but what you end up holding is entirely different: one is a perpetual on listed company equity, the other is a synthetic dollar whose yield is built on funding-rate hedging.
Check the underlying before you place the order. On this contract that is not a pleasantry.
Why these cannot be built into two legs
Funding-rate arbitrage needs a spot long and a perpetual short that both exist and can both be adjusted. These four fail structurally.
The contract trades and charges funding 24/7, while the equity behind it opens five days a week. Over weekends and outside US market hours the perpetual still moves cash every eight hours and still prices, while there is nothing you can do on the equity side — no counter-leg to adjust in step, no window to exit through.
Set the hours aside and an ordinary crypto account has no corresponding spot to buy in the first place. This is the same category of problem as the large share of top-of-leaderboard names with no spot market, except what is missing here is not a listing but an entire asset class.
So the significance of these four for an arbitrageur is not a new instrument. It is a reminder: how high the funding is and whether the trade can be built are two independent questions.

What a 0% interest-rate component means
Funding is made of two parts: the premium index, plus a fixed interest-rate term. When that term is non-zero, longs pay shorts a small structural amount even when spot and perpetual prices line up exactly — one of the institutional reasons funding is positive most of the time.
These four carry 0%. Their funding is driven entirely by the premium index, with no built-in tilt toward longs paying: perpetual above the equity and longs pay, perpetual below and shorts pay, with no default direction.
This is not new practice. We counted it previously: 233 of 908 Binance contracts carry a zero baseline rate. The four new listings continue the same parameter set.
The 8.1 exemption, and where it matters
Rule 8.1 is the one that progressively tightens the settlement interval when funding hits its bounds. For contracts caught by it, settlement compresses from eight hours downward — and the same rate reading annualises to very different numbers under different intervals.
Exempting these four means their cadence is a stable eight hours, three periods a day, and will not suddenly become twenty-four in a stressed market. For anyone trying to compute an annualised figure that is helpful: the interval is a constant, so the conversion is one multiplication.
Binance made comparable arrangements for two batches of TradFi perpetuals in September; we covered that batch being exempted from the automatic switch to one hour at the time. This applies the same parameters to new listings.
The comparison from our own data
Equity perpetuals are not a new species. Ethena previously moved part of its USDe hedge into US equity perpetuals, and when we checked the HOOD perpetual in our database, its cumulative funding for the year was 0.48% — far below mainstream crypto perpetuals over the same stretch.
For cross-reference, as of 2026-10-08 06:00 +08:00 our database holds 534 symbols and 1,029,262 settlement records; BTC perpetual funding totalled 0.060452% over 1–8 October and ETH 0.079555% on the same basis, summed period by period. The four new contracts have no readable history yet — worth waiting several dozen periods before judging their level.
What to watch next
- Whether realised funding sits near zero. With a 0% baseline and adequate underlying liquidity, the rate should oscillate around zero rather than sit persistently positive. A month of data will show it.
- How the premium index is sourced when the equity market is shut. Where the reference price comes from outside trading hours directly determines what the weekend periods charge.
- Whether more batches follow. Binance has already adjusted 18 TradFi perpetuals across two batches in September; the category is still expanding.
